The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja continues to expand its international academic presence as Dr. Eniola Ajani Olaniyan, Head of Department, Meteorology, represents the University at the prestigious 2026 EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference in Darmstadt, Germany, from 21–25 September 2026.
The conference, which marks the 40th Anniversary of EUMETSAT, brings together leading meteorological organisations, space agencies, scientists, researchers, and experts from across the world under the theme, “Advancing Earth System Satellites for Europe and Beyond.”
As part of the international gathering, Dr. Olaniyan presented cutting-edge research with relevance to climate science and the African continent bringing an African perspective to discussions around meteorology, climate intelligence, and space-based Earth observation.
Through his presentation, Dr. Olaniyan brings the realities and research priorities of the African continent into a global scientific setting, while highlighting the role of meteorological research in understanding climate change, strengthening aviation safety, and supporting informed decision-making.
At AAAU, opportunities such as this reflect the University’s commitment to building expertise across aviation, aerospace, meteorology, and environmental science, while creating platforms for African researchers to engage with emerging knowledge, technologies, and developments shaping these fields worldwide.
