Dual milestone as AAAU celebrates Groundbreaking of its permanent site and Maiden Matriculation

On the 24th of July, 2024 , it was indeed a euphoric atmosphere as the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja had a dual celebration.

The university, conceived by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and established in the year 2022 under the leadership of Hon. Festus Keyamo SAN, CON FCIArB (UK), Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU),Abuja since inception has been accommodated and shares facilities with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) in the NSIB training school building along the airport road.

It was a moment of rush of emotions and a sense of ownership as the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, CON, FCIArB(UK) alongside other dignitaries unveiled and commemorated the Groundbreaking ceremony of the AAAU permanent site with seven(7) projects to commence construction in this first phase and be completed with the support from Tertiary Education Trust Fund(TETFund).

Afterwards, the Minister alongside the Chairman Governing Council of the university, Alhaji Goni Aji, The Registrar, AAAU, Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, Dean School of Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Eniola Olaniyan Ajanni, HOD Aviation Business Department, Mr. Aliyu Mohammed Tata, Directors, Professors and Academicians of the university went on a procession to start the Maiden Matriculation Ceremony.

On the course of the event, the Chairman Governing Council, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji declared the Maiden Matriculation Ceremony opened.

The Registrar, Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, delivered a brief introduction of the university from its establishment till present.

During the event, the Minister of FMA&AD, Festus Keyamo, couldn’t hold back his excitement as he expressed immense joy and pride to be witnessing the Maiden Matriculation of the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU).
In his remarks, he stated ” This institution stands as a beacon of excellence and potential not just for Nigeria- African but for the global aviation sector.”

The undergraduate and postgraduate students were then sworn-in officially into the university system.

AAAU has run through one successful session of a standard university style with over thirty (30) undergraduate students and seventy-seven (77) postgraduate students.
The university is set to start another new session as admissions for the 2024/2025 are open.
