AAAU Strengthens Community Ties with Scholarship Commitment: Fostering Education and Harmony in Zamani Community

The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), located in Abuja, solidifies a significant commitment to its neighboring community, Zamani. Recognizing the importance of fostering constructive relationships, AAAU initiated a sustainable, long-term partnership with Zamani, a rural area opposite to the university along the airport road.

Led by the Registrar, Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, alongside other principal officers and staff, a delegation from AAAU visited the palace of the Chief of Zamani. The reception was warm and cordial, with the Chief and other key figures in the palace extending a gracious welcome to the AAAU team.

During the visit, the purpose was articulated, emphasizing the university’s desire to enhance relations with the community, particularly considering the significant number of AAAU staff and students residing there. The Registrar underscored the importance of fostering a mutually beneficial relationship, envisioning a harmonious coexistence referred to as a “Gown and Town” relationship, wherein the university represents the gown and Zamani the town.

The Chief and his constituents expressed gratitude for AAAU’s outreach, acknowledging the sense of inclusion it fostered within the community. They pledged their commitment to supporting the university and its members wholeheartedly.

The visit culminated in a significant announcement by Registrar Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, wherein AAAU committed to offering scholarship to a deserving native from Zamani. This initiative aims to alleviate barriers to higher education faced by local residents, offering support to those who excel academically in their secondary education and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations scoring 250 and above.

This gesture cemented a positive and mutually beneficial relationship between Zamani and AAAU, symbolizing a commitment to the advancement and prosperity of both parties. The visit concluded with prayers offered for continued cooperation and prosperity.
