ACCCAD Visits NESREA to Strengthen Collaboration on Aviation Environmental Sustainability

The African Centre for Climate Change and Aviation Decarbonization (ACCCAD) of the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) today, 8th October 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) in Abuja to explore areas of collaboration in promoting environmental sustainability within the aviation sector.
The Head of ACCCAD, Dr. Salihu Abdullahi Chado, led a delegation including Dr. Ibrahim Salihu Maikudi, Dr. Aruya Emmanuel, Dr. Samuel Oyakegha, Mr. Salihu Ibrahim Kombo, and Ms. Sa’adatu Usman. He shared the Centre’s mission to drive research and innovation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing climate action in aviation across Africa.
Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Elijah N. Udofia, Director of Environmental Quality Control, who represented the Director General/CEO of NESREA, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to partnerships that foster cleaner and more sustainable aviation practices.
Both sides discussed strategies to reduce aviation emissions, including the adoption of sustainable aviation fuels and greener operational models, and pledged to work together toward achieving a low-carbon aviation future for Nigeria and Africa.
