The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, jointly host a three-day international conference from the 4th to the 6th of December, 2024, at ABU’s CBN Centre of Excellence Auditorium. Themed:Open Science, Open Knowledge, Artificial Intelligence, and Climate Change in Africa”, the event explored solutions to Africa’s challenges through science, AI, and climate change initiatives.
Dignitaries including Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel C. Meribole, with opening addresses by key organisers, including Dr. Ibinaiye Dorcas and ABU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Kabir Bala and AAAU’s Registrar, Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi. The conference featured researchers from Nigerian and international institutions, such as San Diego Mesa College (USA) and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), shared insights on open science, AI’s economic impact, and climate change strategies.
The conference emphasised collaboration among academics, policymakers, and institutions to develop sustainable solutions tailored to Africa’s unique needs.
