Niamey, Niger – July 17, 2025
A delegation from the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, led by the Registrar, Dr. Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi and the Head of the Department of Meteorology, Dr. Eniola Olaniyan, visited the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD) in Niamey, Niger. The team was warmly received by ACMAD’s Director General, Dr. Ousmane Ndiaye, in a visit aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in meteorology and environmental science. The engagement featured a presentation of AAAU’s mission and a tour of ACMAD’s key facilities, including the High Performance Computing and Situation Rooms, alongside technical briefings by ACMAD experts.
Discussions explored possible areas of collaboration such as joint research, student and faculty exchange Programmes, data sharing, training initiatives, and co-hosting of scientific events. While a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is yet to be finalised, both institutions expressed strong interest in formalising the partnership. The visit ended with a vote of thanks from the Registrar, who reaffirmed the university’s dedication to academic excellence and regional partnership in aviation, aerospace and environmental science.
