The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) in Abuja is relentlessly pursuing excellence in academics and training, continually striving to surpass established standards.
Following its recent initiated partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), AAAU has taken another significant step by initiating a collaboration with the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) in Zaria.
A delegation from AAAU, led by Registrar Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, paid a courtesy visit to NCAT, Zaria. The team was warmly received by the Rector, Mr. Joseph Shaka Imalighwe.
During the visit, the AAAU and NCAT teams engaged in a productive meeting. Registrar Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi provided an overview of AAAU’s academic and structural developments, emphasizing the progress on the university’s permanent site.
Aliyu Mohammed Tata, Head of the Aviation Business Department and a transport expert, elaborated on the strategic benefits of the collaboration. He highlighted AAAU’s tailored professional training programmes designed to meet the needs of the aviation sector and discussed the practical training opportunities for AAAU undergraduate students through a three-month industrial training programme at NCAT.
The NCAT representatives expressed their enthusiasm for the proposed partnership, demonstrating a strong readiness to collaborate with AAAU. Ishaya Idris Akaaba, Head of the Aviation Management School, outlined key areas of interest for the collaboration, including accommodation, training facilities, and remuneration.
Nasiru Muhammad Gungura, NCAT Training Manager, emphasized the hands-on experiences that NCAT would offer to AAAU students, providing them with valuable exposure to various fields in aviation during their industrial training phase.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to form a six-member working team, consisting of three representatives from each institution. This team will further deliberate and finalise the process for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration, scheduled for June 27 or 28, 2024.
